Why censorship and fake news cause entropy (disorder) and achieves the opposite
Jim Khalili, the famous physicist, says that you cannot
separate information from reality. James Gleick wrote that information, like
matter and energy, cannot be destroyed. Information is there when it is
thought, spoken and described. Information is not just a story. Jeremy
Campbell, in his book 'Grammatical Man' wrote: In its most familiar sense,
information today is news, intelligence, facts and ideas that are needed and
passed on as knowledge. But a more active and constructive meaning as something
that gives a certain shape or character to matter, or to mind; a force that
shapes behaviour, trains, instructs, inspires and guides. Nature must be
interpreted as matter, energy and information. Information reduces uncertainty
and increases probabilities. Information reduces entropy, also known as
disorder. But what do politicians do? They try to destroy information by censoring
it. For thousands of years attempts have been made to censor the 'word' of
nature and people. Books were burnt, but people who wrote down or told
unwelcome information were also burnt on the funeral pyres of hypocrisy. And
now Europe and even Switzerland have blocked the news channel Russia Today. It
is assumed that in this way the information spread by this Russian media cannot
reach the populations of pro-Ukrainian countries. This, of course, is untrue.
Again, the rules of physics apply; the information spread by RT is there, is
part of reality, even if you wish it were not. But what does this mean for
those countries that make geopolitical decisions based on only part of the
relevant information? Can they still make the right, careful decisions? You
already know the answer: NO. Because the laws of information cannot be broken
by a politicised elite and an uninformed crowd, people make the wrong
decisions, regardless of their opinions. This means by definition an
information deficit and thus 'disorder', entropy for all. Politicians think
they are above the laws of nature and therefore there is disorder. I cannot
explain this in simpler terms. To end the war in Ukraine ALL information is
important. Russia's call to honour the Minsk Accords is censored and the big
mouths of Ursula von der Leyen and President Joe Biden are widely reported by
newspapers and online mainstream media. That this will lead to further destabilisation
if not believed or refused to be believed, because they will not acknowledge
this blog as relevant information either. So we are going down because of
'stupidity', arrogance and self-conceit. Not from blindness, but from the refusal to see.
